Members of the community as well as visitors joined in Carbon County over the weekend to once again support the annual Mike Ballard Memorial Fundraiser.

Per tradition, the event began with a golf tournament on Saturday morning. The 10th annual tournament boasted 32 teams and 38 hole sponsors. The top four teams, including the Barnes Team, Tubbs Team, Greek Streak #2 and Morris Team, took the top honors at the tournament. Recognition was also given to the last place team, Castleview #3.

The event continued into the evening with a banquet, silent auction and concert at the Carbon County Event Center. Natural Causes entertained guests while they ate, mingled and bid on donated items.

The total funds raised through this year’s event will be announced in August when the check is presented to Janell Nelson and her family. The family recently lost JR, Janell’s husband and father of three, in an automobile accident. The proceeds raised from the fundraiser will directly benefit Janell and her family.
