Sixteen three-pointers were not enough to win Emery’s Friday matchup against the Union Cougars as the Spartans fell 92-75.

A steady first half saw a close contest between the two teams as Union went into the break with a narrow lead, 40-39. The Cougars exploded in the second half, outscoring the visiting team 52-36 to take the win.

Easton Gordon led the Emery squad with 27 points, including seven connections from behind the arc. Cade Brazier and Brax Jensen also found rhythm from downtown, notching five and four treys, respectively, good for 15 and 16 points. Tyler Butler and Cody Wilstead also chipped in points for the Spartans.

Emery will look to rebound against region foe Richfield on Wednesday, Jan. 3. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 beginning at 7 p.m.
