The 2017 graduation commencement ceremony for the students of the Castle Valley Center took place on Thursday afternoon. Boy Scout Troop 855 started the ceremony with the presentation of colors and the school choir led the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner.”

Remarks were given by Superintendent Steve Carlsen, Special Education Director Robert Cox and Price City Council woman Kathy Hanna-Smith, who spoke on behalf of Mayor Joe PIccolo. While giving his speech, Cox became emotional, speaking on what a great place the school is.

“Everyone says that Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth; to those people, they have not visited the Castle Valley Center,” Cox said.

The five graduates then had a friend or family member speak on their behalf, including a heartfelt tribute to Kolton Dean, a student and graduate of Castle Valley Center whom passed away recently. Principal Michael C. Keller then performed the presentation of class and the diplomas were awarded.
