The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles came into Castle Dale to take on the Emery Spartans on Friday, November 30. Emery went into the game undefeated but found themselves in an early hole, down 15-5. The Spartans clawed their way back into the game with three three-pointers, two by Brodie Tuttle and a nice step-back by Brax Jensen. After a 11-5 run to end the quarter, Emery was right back in it, 20-16.

The Spartans outscored the Eagles in the second as Mason Faimalo added a three of his own. The half ended with Emery on top 37-36.

Unfortunately, the second half was not kind to the Spartans. They were outscored by 10 points in the third quarter and seven in the forth. Emery was able to pull within three in the forth, 63-60 after a Kyson Stilson three-pointer. But then it was all Eagles as they ended the game on a 18-5 run. The Spartans went down for the first time this year by a final score 81-65.

Stilson lead the team with 20 points while Tuttle had 11 points with 8 rebounds. For the Eagles, Braxton Tanner was unstoppable as he finished with 50 points on the night shooting 75% (18-24) from the field. The Spartans shot well from beyond the arch as they went 14-33 (42%).

Emery will look to bounce back when they head to Lindon to take on Maeser Prep Academy on Wednesday, December 3. They will then end the week against local rival, Carbon in Price on Friday, December 7.
