Press Release

Utah State University Eastern’s Career and Technical Education Department will be holding an open house for the new Aggie Air Aviation Program on Saturday, Aug. 10. The university invites the community to come and help celebrate the launch of the aviation program at the Eastern campus in Price. Festivities will kick off at 1:30 p.m. at the main hangar on Airport Road in Price with opportunities for the community to see the university’s new flight simulators, aircraft and meet with students who are completing their Aggie Aviation Adventure Camp.

In conjunction with the Carbon County Civil Air Patrol, Red Tail Aviation, Carbon County Commissioners and Utah State University, the inaugural year of Aggie Aviation on the Eastern campus will allow students an opportunity to learn how to fly fixed-wing aircraft, earn multiple FAA licenses and certifications, and earn a degree with transferability to the Logan campus aviation program for Bachelor’s or Master’s degree options.

The aviation program is looking to recruit up to 25 students in the first cohort of the program to help bring new job opportunities and training to the Castle Valley. Additionally, the university has sought out the help of local alumnus Ashley Martinez to help instruct in this new program. With the help of the community and Carbon County, the university is excited to bring the community in to see the additions coming to the area and to help spread the word about the airport and to learn about resources they may not know existed locally.

“It has one of the longest runways and is the best kept secret in the state,” said Dr. Jamie Cano, Associate Vice Chancellor of Profession and Technical Education.

With the new addition to the Castle Country, the university invites the community to help us welcome our new program Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the Main Hangar on Airport Road in Price.
