Staff at Bank of Utah donated many gifts to the angel tree for seniors in 2018.

The annual angel tree for seniors boasts 575 ornaments this year, the largest amount that has graced the tree in the five years since its inception. The 575 gifts that are donated by members of the community will be distributed to nearly 200 senior citizens in the local area.

The Notre Dame Hope Center has been flooded with members of the community, businesses and local organizations that are looking to pick an ornament, sometimes multiple, off the tree. As of Wednesday afternoon, the count on the tree had narrowed down to 200 ornaments.

Nancy Labahn, organizer of the program, has been astounded by the community support in the past five years. “We have seen the greatest in humanity,” she said.

Angels may be chosen at the Notre Dame Parish Hope Center, located at 185 North Carbon Avenue in Price. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

All wrapped gifts must be returned by Monday, Dec. 9. After the gifts are organized, they will be distributed by volunteers in mid-December,
