Forest Service Press Release

To prevent post fire flood damage to downstream infrastructure, the Forest Service, Emery County and the Emery Water Conservancy District have taken the initiative of constructing flood control structures.

The structures include debris basins, debris racks and water bars and are constructed within the drainage areas affected by fire. The flood controls structures are working.

Silt and debris are being controlled after rainstorms and infrastructure like bridges, road and culverts are not being destroyed. The Forest Road Crew is cleaning the debris basins so they will continue to hold back debris flows.
