A benefit roping and fundraiser event is slated for Oct. 3 to assist the Jacobson family of Cleveland.

The Jacobson family was traveling on Highway 6 on Aug. 15 when another vehicle pulled onto the highway from SR 89. The family was unable to slow their pickup that was hauling a horse trailer and collided with the vehicle.

Driving the pickup was 38-year-old Landon Jacobson, who suffered critical injuries. Heather Jacobson, Landon’s 38-year-old wife, along with their seven-year-old son Broc, died on scene. Bowdie Jacobson, 16, sustained critical injuries.

The event to raise funds for the family will take place at the Blue Sage Arena in Castle Dale. Signup is scheduled for 2 p.m. with roping starting at 3 p.m. Donated prizes will be awarded to the high money winner for the day and to average winners of each roping.

At 5 p.m., dinner will be donated by San Rafael Works. Donations are accepted for the price of the meal. A live auction will begin at 6 p.m. while raffle tickets will be sold throughout the event.

For more information about roping, please call Cory Cloward at (435) 630-1668 or Kip Ivie at (435) 749-1926. Anyone wanting to help with a donation for the auction or raffle should contact Shannon Cloward at (435) 630-1633 or Brandi Ivie at (435) 749-1931.
