Carbon Christmas Receives Some Upgrades

It’s upon us once again – the time when Carbon High School students will knock on doors and sing their way into our hearts to raise money for Carbon Christmas. This will be the school’s seventh year participating in the large fundraiser, and it has received a couple of new and improved events put together by Carbon High’s student government.

Throughout the month of December, students will be seen caroling at stores as well as showing up on doorsteps ready to tackle odd jobs. They are asking for the community’s help in raising funds to provide Christmas for local families in need.

The Dinos will experience shakedowns before leaving the parking lot at lunch and have the chance to pay to wear a hat for the day.

New events available to the community hope to bring out crowds throughout the month of December. On Dec.12, a bunco benefit night will be featured. The annual Carbon Christmas benefit night will take place on Dec. 14 with a Zumbathon to follow . Also new this year is a men’s beauty pageant on Dec. 18 in the Carbon High auditorium.

During the opening assembly on Nov. 29, this year’s goal of $27,000 was presented to the student body. $500 was raised during the assembly alone, kicking off the event.

Local restaurants are also contributing throughout the month of December. On Dec. 5, part of Taco Time’s proceeds will go towards Carbon Christmas. KFC will donate a portion of their proceeds from root beer floats on Dec. 7. Winger’s will also participate on their benefit night on Dec. 19 from 4-10 p.m.
