Carbon County Archery Teams Win Big at State

Castle Heights Elementary Archery Team

Three archery teams from Carbon School District were recognized on Tuesday for their wins at the Utah State Archery competition on Feb. 10.

Mont Harmon Middle School participants were the champions of the middle school division at the state competition. The Lady Pirates dominated in the girls’ division with Kacie Brady taking first place, Jezmin Presset placing second and Cheyanne Slaughter finishing in third.

Helper Middle School took second place as a team in the middle school event. Davin Moss was named the grand champion and received a trophy and a new bow for his win. William Carmichael also represented Helper Middle and received third place for his performance at state.

Sirens rang loud and clear at Castle Heights Elementary School as the school’s archery team was recognized for its first place win in the elementary division at state. Also from Castle Heights, Kaden Donathon took second overall in the boys’ division at the event.

Those who qualified will have the opportunity to compete at the national level. This year, the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) national tournament will be hosted in Sandy, Utah on April 13-14.
