Carbon County Tourism Release

Carbon County Tourism has announced the first sessions of its Tourism Brand Ambassador Training Program. This program is designed for our local hospitality front-line staff to participate in field trips around Carbon and Emery counties to gain knowledge on what there is to see and do here.

Sadly, there a lot of locals that have never seen 9 Mile Canyon or visited our local Prehistoric Museum. In turn, that makes it difficult for them to talk about it when visitors ask “What is there to do here?” As part of the Hospitality Committee’s Mission, the tourism office can assist with training for those issues.

The people that interact with our visitors the most are gas station attendants, restaurant and hotel staff, RV park hosts, etc. and we want to help them have some of the same experiences as our visitors would. After attending a field trip, the goal is that those chosen ambassadors will then go back to their businesses and train the rest of the staff to become better tourism ambassadors and help to make an even better experience for visitors.

Currently, there are five trips planned that include 9 Mile Canyon, 9 Mile Ranch, Historic Helper and Price City. Carbon County Tourism Specialist Tina Henrie hopes that local hospitality businesses will get excited to participate.

“I want our owners and managers to see the positive impact that tourism can have on their business and what better way to enhance the customer service experience but to get involved and be a part of this free training?” Henrie said.

If you are interested in this training and you manage or oversee customer service operations in local hotels, RV parks, restaurants or gas stations, please contact Henrie at(435) 636-3701. Spaces are limited, so please call to RSVP today!
