On Wednesday, the Carbon Dinos and coach Brett Johnson added another victory to their season as they won the Eastern Utah Cup that was hosted at the Roosevelt Golf Course. This annual event includes Carbon, Union and Uintah, and the site of the tournament rotates each year.

Carbon has won EU Cup trophy in the recent even years of 2014 and 2016, and now in 2018, while the Uintah Utes have won in the odd years of 2015 and 2017.

Carbon had a team score of 340 with Union just one stroke behind at 341, followed by 4-A Uintah with 350. This was the second time the Dinos played the course in Roosevelt and on both occasions, they were successful. They carry an 8-0 record on season.

Carson Martines played confidently to post a tournament-low score of 74. Brady Gagon and Kaden Slavensky both shot 88 and Nick Olson posted 90. Tyler Yoklavich turned in a score of 92, Jordan Penovich shot 97 and freshman Cayden Steele, who played nine holes, finished with 41.

Next up for the Dinos will be the state championship hosted at the Meadow Brook golf course in Taylorsville on Oct. 1 and 2.
