The Carbon Dinos’ season came to an end on Saturday in Orem after the first game of the opening round of the state tournament against Morgan. The Trojans were heavy favorites coming in as the number one seed from Region 13.

The Dinos traded blows with the Trojans in the opening minutes and tied the game at 11 on a three-pointer from Ty Anderson. Carbon then sputtered on offense as Morgan went on a 13-0 run. Collin Lewis temporarily stopped the bleeding with a three but Morgan remained hot. The Trojans closed the half on a 29-6 run to make it 40-17 at the half.

It was all the room Morgan needed as it beat up on Carbon, 74-38. Derek Hillam led the Dinos in scoring with 23 points in his last game on the hardwood in a Carbon uniform.

With the victory, Morgan continues to the quarterfinals in Richfield next week. The Trojans will play the winner of Juab and South Sevier.
