Carbon High Cross Country Team Participate in Carbon Invitational

The Carbon Dinos cross country team didn’t have to travel far to participate in the Carbon Invitational on Wednesday in Helper.

The girls’ varsity team finished in third place out of seven teams with a total of 69 points. Carbon trailed behind Uintah with 65 points and Juab, 52. Carbon High junior Regan Hansen ran the 5K in 20:10.6. Hansen took fifth place and was the fastest Lady Dino during the race. Union High School’s Kennedy Powell won the 5K with a time of 18:17.8.

Carbon High’s boys’ varsity team nabbed a fourth place win out of nine teams. The total score for the Dinos was 113 points. Payson snatched a spot in third place with 91 points, Grand County second with 58 and Uintah took first place with 47 points. Sophomore James Bryner was the first Dino to cross the finish line with a time of 17:44.9, good for 12th place. Junior Jacob Jewkes followed right behind Bryner in 13th with a time of 17:47.8. Grand County’s Ryan Lewis finished in first place with a time of 16:27.3.

Next up for Carbon, the cross country team will travel to North Sanpete on Wednesday.
