Carbon Takes Red Rock Invitational, Emery Earns Third

Carbon and Emery cross country teams were in Moab on Wednesday to compete in the Red Rock Invitational. Six schools were in attendance, including Grand, Monticello, San Juan and South Sevier.

Carbon won the race after its top five finishers ended within 25 seconds of one another. Chad Page finished with a 17:10 time for sixth followed by James Bryner at 17:15 for seventh, Ryan Page at 17:17 for eighth, Shane Scaugard at 17:33 for 10th and Kobe Cruz at 17:34 for 11th.

Bryar Meccariello led the Spartans and ended in fifth overall with a 17:04 time. Byron Christiansen crossed the line in 14th at 19:02 with Zach Wolford in 15th at 19:03, Merritt Mecarriello in 17th at 19:07 and Jacob Ewell in 23rd at 19:31. The Spartans ended the day in third overall as a team.

Lady Dino Ambree Jones finished in fifth at 22:07, while Adaley Lester from Emery finished in eighth place at 22:56 on the girls’ side. Grand took first overall, followed by Emery in second while Carbon ended in fifth.

Grand’s Evan Ellison was the top runner, finishing at 16:17, which helped the Red Devils take second overall.
