Castle Country Hopefuls Declare Their Candidacy

The local municipal elections are steadily approaching. As of June 7, the declaration of candidacy period ended and municipalities began announcing those that are running in each area.

For Price City, there are three councilmember positions available as four-year terms. The hopefuls are Jared Chiara, Andy Urbanik, Boyd Marsing, Layne Miller, Rick Davis and Terri Tubbs. More than one of these candidates have previously or currently sit on the council.

David F. Avery, Barbara J. Robinett, Orlando La Fontaine and Keityn Allen Hunt are all candidates for the East Carbon Mayor for a two-year term. A large number of East Carbon citizens are vying for the three available seats on the council, all four-year terms. Those citizens are Liz Ferguson, Susan LaBorde, Karla C. Young, Bryan Mena, Jesse C. Stewart, Jennifer N. Maestas, Cheralee England-Johns, Moriah Jones, Bob Martinez, Charles Abeyta and Jason Jorgensen.

In Helper City, there are also three positions available on the council for four-year terms. Seven hopefuls turned in declarations, including Darren Cloward, Nathan Behn, Amanda Wheeler, Jason L. Riffe, Gary Harwood, Michelle Goldsmith and David Dornan. Like Price City, many of these hopefuls are current councilmembers or have sat previously.

Cleveland Town has two positions that are four-year terms. Brydi Sharp, Nancy Livingston, Trevor Rowley, Karli Christensen, Katie Player and Tim Christensen are all hoping for a position on the council.

Ted Allen, Jordan Leonard, Brad Giles, Mary Kava and Joel Dorsch have all declared their candidacy for the three available council member positions in Castle Dale City. Dell Mead and Brad Richman are looking to sit on the Ferron City Council for a two-year term while three council members are needed for four-year terms. Randy D. Fox, Leigh Bloomer, Christopher Ronald Quayle-Winn, Jacqueline Wilde, Donald Troy Winter, Josephine Robinson and Shala Hunsaker have all declared their candidacy for those positions.

Wellington City will see two open positions with multiple candidates each. For one, Rory Bradley, Derk Bradley, Kory Moosman and Gary Rich are all vying for the position. Glen Wells, Bethany Perea and Paula Noyes are the candidates for the second.

The Price River Water Improvement District (PRWID) has one position open on their Board of Trustees along with one candidate, Scott Jensen.

There is a two-year term opening and a four-year term opening on the Orangeville City Council, with Tracey Addley vying for the two-year seat and Kirk McQuivey, Carol Stilson and Brandon Hoffam working toward the four-year seat.

Leonard L. Norton is running for Mayor of Huntington City for two years. There is one position of council member also available in Huntington City with Patsy Stoddard, Jerry Livingston, Lesa Miller, David L. Emery, Hilary Gordon and Tom Kay all vying for the seat. In Elmo Town, for the two four-year council seats, Seth Allred and Lori H. Bradley have each declared their candidacy.

Green River candidates are Travis Bacon for a two-year term as mayor, Penney Riches and Larry G. Packer for a two-year council member term and Kimberly K. Andrus, Kathy Ryan, Anna Evans, Kent Homer Nelson, Bo Harrison, Guy Webster and Philip Engleman for a four-year term on the council.

In Emery Town, there is one two-year council member position as well as two four-year council members positions up for grabs. Pat Sundstrom and Amy Sundstrom are both vying for seats.

On July 30, in-person early voting begins. Voters may register to vote with a provisional ballot at an early polling location. It has been stated that early voting may not be available in certain municipalities. Following early voting, in-person voting begins in earnest on October 22.
