Castle Dale City Council welcomed a new enforcement officer, J.J. Manning, at the monthly council meeting Thursday evening. Former Officer Lofthouse had recently resigned due to time constraints.
Lorie Huntington addressed the council requesting final permission for the Emery High Graduation Gala planned for the city arena park area. The event will include a bonfire, bounce houses, games and pizza. This will start about 8 p.m. following the graduation program on May 24. The gala is planned to help keep the teens safe during graduation celebrations. The council expressed their appreciation for this type of youth program and especially to Huntington for her years of service.
A public hearing also took place for the annexation of the Hardman Property. However, because some contracts with adjoining property owners have not been signed, no action could be taken. Another public hearing to pursue a CDBG grant for extrication equipment for the fire department received no comment, therefore, approval was given to proceed to obtain the grant.
Resolution 4-12-2018 regarding the fees and fines for animal control in the city was adopted. This adjusted the fines for animal infractions in Castle Dale City trying to make them more in line county wide.
Also at the meeting, Justin Johansen presented Castle Dale City with a donation of $1,000. This gift will be used to add a large mural painting of the building (Castle Dale Co-op) that previously stood where the new Castle Dale building is now.
The council also expressed gratitude for the contribution from Rocky Mountain Power to the city celebration coming in June.
