What a difference a week makes. Last Friday, Dakota Cisneros took the mound for the Carbon Dino Baseball squad and gave up four runs in a rocky first inning. This week he threw a complete game shutout, giving up just one hit while striking out 13.В Carbon beat the Delta Rabbits for the second time in two days.

Before the game Coach Troy Moynier predicted that Carbon would not be able to post as many hits off of Delta as they had done the day before because Delta’s ace would be on the mound. It did prove to be true. The Dinos had 14 hits on Wednesday against Delta. On Thursday they only managed nine, but Moynier was pleased because he felt this was the best hurler Carbon would face the rest of the way through region action.

Carbon offense showed some real clutch hitting in the second to rally for four runs. Carbon capitalized on four errors from the Rabbits to move runners into scoring position.

Along with solid hitting, the Dinos got a great outing from Cisneros. He opened the game by sitting down all three Delta batters. He stayed in control, backed by solid play from the rest of the team to keep the Rabbits off the base paths most of the afternoon. Delta managed one hit on the day.

Moynier was happy the team put up nine hits from what he called the best pitcher the team would face the rest of the way through region play.

“I am happy with the clutch hitting we got in a two out situation. But I really have to say Dakota had a great performance today,” Moynier said. В “He pitched a shutout and a complete game. I had to leave our closer, Derek Young, in yesterday a little longer than I would like, so it was good I didn’t need to use him or another pitcher to get the job done. I can’t say enough on the great job he did today.”

Carbon is now 2-2 in Region 12 play. They are sitting in third place behind Spanish Fork and Payson. The Dinos will take on North Sanpete next week. They are at home on Tuesday and then play on the road Thursday.
