Read Verla Jensen became Cleveland Town’s first-ever female Mayor when she was sworn in at Thursday’s Town Council meeting.
Jensen said, “I will do my best for the town.”
Jensen’s first act as Mayor was to appoint Beth Mecham to the Town Council. Mecham was not present at the meeting, but Councilmen voted to accept the appointment unanimously.
As everyone was leaving, an anonymous voice called, “We look forward to having you as our mayor, Verla.”
