Colorado Woman Killed During Hit-and-Run Near Moab

A 50-year-old Colorado woman was killed on Sunday evening after being struck on the side of U.S. Highway 191. Police are seeking help in finding the driver responsible for the woman’s death due to not stopping after the incident.

According to a press release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the body of Cheryl G. Zimmerman of Lakewood, Colo., was found approximately at 7 a.m. Sunday morning. Her body was discovered at mile marker 140 on southbound U.S. Highway 191, which is approximately 15 miles north of Moab.

The press release stated that Zimmerman had pulled off onto the side of the highway where she exited the vehicle. While outside of the vehicle, a suspected white semi-truck traveling southbound struck the woman and then continued to travel on Highway 191.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office and Utah Highway Patrol are currently investigating the incident and are trying to locate the suspected semi-truck.
