Congratulations to the Southeastern Utah Sterling Scholars

USU Eastern hosted the 33rd annual Sterling Scholar Award Program Tuesday evening, with over fifty Sterling Scholar nominees hoping to take home the award in their category.

High School Seniors from Monument Valley, Emery, Carbon, Grand, Monticello, San Juan and Whitehorse, were nominated as a Sterling Scholar hopeful in either English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Foreign Language, Business and Marketing, Speech and Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Family & Consumer Science, Trade and Technical Education, and the General Scholarship.

Carbon High School stole the show, winning six of the 12 disciplines represented in the program. Emery had three students win.

The Southeastern Utah Sterling Scholars are:

English: CHantz Richens, Carbon High School

Business and Marketing: Joecee Hail, Carbon High School

Mathematics: Rachel Roberts, Emery High School

Speech and Drama: Christian Johnston, Carbon High School

Science: Tyler Pulli, Emery High School

Music: Jake Carpenter, Carbon High School

Social Science: Madison Alleman, Carbon High School

Visual Arts: Jessica Pyatt, Grand High School

Foreign Language: Ashley Martinez, Carbon High School

Family and Consumer Science: Lexus Latham, San Juan High School

General Scholarship: Mary Rice, Grand High School

Trade and Technical Education: KC Kofford, Emery High School
