Daulton Nelson Captures 3A Long Jump Title

3A State Champion long jumper Daulton Nelson led a successful Carbon team at the State Track Championships May 20-21.

Nelson won the title with a jump of 21’8.5”.

Regan Powell placed in the top seven of four different events. Powell finished seventh in the 1600m run with a time of 5:26 and placed fifth in the 3200m at 11:45.83.

Powell also recorded a school record in the 800m with a time of 2:19.52. The old record was 2:22.68.

Karrisa Nelson finished fourth in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the javelin. She is now preparing for the Great Southwest Invitational where she’ll compete in the heptathlon.

Freshman Garret Marsing recorded a fourth-place finish in the 3200m run.

Kaliegh Potts placed eighth in the high jump with a jump of 5’.

Powell, Karrisa Nelson, Amanda Freestone and Kacylia Ivory teamed to place fifth in the medley relay.
