For the first time since 2011, every member from Carbon’s boys’ tennis team qualified for state.

Carson Martines played a tough match to the eventual champion, Luke Pearson of Judge Memorial, and fell 0-6, 1-6. Jack Christensen lost to Russel Madsen of North Sanpete 0-6, 3-6. Preston Condie was the only Carbon player to win a set and continued his strong first year of playing tennis. He came back from down 0-3 and won seven straight games. Condie eventually fell in the match, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.

In doubles, Bonham Brewer and Keenan Hatch went against Seth Hadley and Carter Thackeray from Morgan. Brewer and Hatch jumped out to a 4-1 lead but could not keep their momentum going. They lost, 5-7, 1-6. Jack and Leonard Livingston competed against a team from South Sevier consisting of Heston Ott and Brayden Staples. The match was extremely close but South Sevier edged out Carbon in the first tiebreaker set 7-6 and then won the second set 6-4.

Head coach Pete Riggs wrapped up the year with this comment, “I am extremely proud of the boys’ efforts and play this season.”
