Carbon’s first state competition game on Saturday was against Morgan, who quickly went up 4-0.

The Dinos knotted the game up in the bottom of the second with four runs of their own. The Trojans immediately got three quick ones back in the third. Carbon finally took the lead, 8-7, after the fourth and neither team would score again.

Cooper Schade went 2-2 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Dinos to victory.

The win set up a match against Richfield (Region 15 #1).

Carbon held a 3-2 lead after three innings but could not maintain it. Richfield outscored the Dinos 11-3 to end the game and win 13-6.

With the loss, Carbon will play Emery in an elimination game on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Juan Diego High School.
