Carbon’s Achilles’ heel all year has been the lack of offense in the third quarter of games. That was not the case in their game against ALA on Wednesday evening.

The Dinos and Eagles found themselves in a tight contest after one quarter of play with a score of 19-16 in favor of the Dinos. Carbon was able to create additional room in the following period to go up 41-30 at the midway point. Rather than fold in their troubled quarter, Carbon seemingly finished off ALA with a 19-9 period. The Dinos went on to win the matchup 73-57.

Derek Hillam went off and led all scorers with 30 points. He also pulled down 15 rebounds to give himself a double-double on the night. Ty Anderson was back in action and recorded five assists to help facilitate the offense. Colin Lewis and Kaleb Nelson each added 11 and 10 points, respectively, to help the Dinos get back in the win column.

Carbon (5-11, 2-4 Region 14) will be on the road when they face Delta (8-6, 3-3 Region 14) on Friday night. The Dinos are one game behind the Rabbits in the region standings and would like nothing more than to avenge their loss to Delta at home earlier in the year. Carbon led that game the entire first half but fell apart in the third quarter and came up short. Friday’s game can be viewed live online.
