Emery County Represented by 7 at the Silver State International Rodeo

Seven Emery County cowboys and cowgirls competed in the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca, Nev. last week. There were contestants from all the western states, Canada and Australia.

Competition was tough but Emery County came to rodeo. In the breakaway roping, Shaylee Gilbert was second in the first go, fourth in the second go and second in the short go to win the SSIR Breakaway Champion saddle. Shaylee also competed in the team roping. Kayson Jensen was second in the first go, first in the second go and first in the short go to win the SSIR Champion Bareback saddle.

Ruger Payne was third in the trap shooting. Stace Gilbert got second in the first go in junior high boys’ breakaway and ended up eighth overall. Stace also competed in team roping and goat tying. Abbie McElprang was fifth in the second go in girls’ breakaway and team roped with her sister Jessie McElprang. Jessie was also in the breakaway roping.

Kinlie Jensen competed in junior high breakaway roping and goat tying. All of the county’s cowboys and cowgirls were tough competition and represented the county well.
