Emery County School District Selects Teacher of the Year

Janet Tuttle has been selected as Emery County School District’s Teacher of the Year for the 2014-15 School Year.

Tuttle teaches fifth grade at Cottonwood Elementary School. She has been teaching in the district for the past eight years, two at Huntington Elementary and six at Cottonwood Elementary. Tuttle has served on district and school committees and is well respected by her peers, who look at her as a teacher-leader. Tuttle stepped up and helped lead the school at the beginning of the year for a number of weeks. She spends countless hours after school preparing lesson plans, working and putting together hands-on learning opportunities for her students.

According to the Emery County School District Board, Tuttle is a skilled and dedicated teacher and leader. She is knowledgeable in the content areas she teaches and demonstrates skill in the teaching strategies she uses. She is highly motivated and maintains a high level of enthusiasm. The board explained that she performs her assignments with professionalism and is committed to the education profession and to the development of herself and those with whom she works.

She is also a great resource to all the teachers and staff at Cottonwood and willing to go out of her way to help others, board members explained. She is involved with the faculty and staff and is often found helping and speaking with others to encourage and provide guidance.

Tuttle is dedicated to her students at Cottonwood Elementary School and she is highly deserving of this recognition.
