Emery County Sheriff’s Office Rope Rescue Team hosted a three-day training with the Utah National Guard 85th Civil Support Team and the PacifiCorp Huntington Power Plant Rope Rescue Team April 9-11.

The first day of instruction was held at the Huntington Plant and the second and third days were at Calf Canyon on the San Rafael Desert. Approximately 40 rescuers received hands-on training with equipment and technical rope rescue in a wilderness environment.

The training concluded with a scenario where rescuers rappelled into the bottom of the canyon to treat a victim and hoist him out of the canyon utilizing the equipment, skills and techniques learned. Those involved felt the training was a success. It was a great opportunity for the ECSO Rope Rescue Team to train with the military and the private sector.
