The Emery High Spardettes took home the state title following the competition in Taylorsville.
Local teams traveled to take part in the 2019 Utah Cheer Club Sport State Cheer Competition in Taylorsville on Saturday. Emery High finished the competition with shining results as the Spartans took a state title.
The competition ran in two sessions. The first session included 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A schools as well and junior high/middle schools while the last session featured 5A and 6A teams.
The Emery Spartans dominated at the competition, taking first in the varsity all girl show cheer (no tumbling) category en route to the state title. Emery’s Tiana Jensen also won the jump contest and was the only local athlete to be named to the Academic All State Team.
