Emery Hosts Cross Country Meet

Emery High School hosted a cross country meet on Tuesday in Castle Dale.  Four schools competed, including Manti, San Juan, Monticello and Emery.

Emery’s Chase Christiansen finished first in the boys’ division an impressive time of 16:44. He was followed closely by Monticello’s Adam Barker with a time of 16:57. Three Emery runners were next, including Briar Meccariello, Tanyon Allred and McKay Meccariello. Other top ten finishers were Emery’s Ty Funk and three students from Monticello, Ryan Bird, Hyrum Johnson and Allen Pettit.

In the girls’ division, San Juan’s Jessica Walker captured a first place finish with a quick time of 20:54. Other top finishers include San Juan’s Rachel Barton, Nehonie Warren and Madison Palmer. Madison Freestone from Monticello crossed over the finish line next.

Bethany Justice was the first Emery girl to finish with a time of 22:58. San Juan’s Celeste Hillhouse and Lydia Pugh finished just ahead of Ellie Anderson of Manti, rounding out the top ten.
