Looking to advance in the 3A North standings, the Emery Spartans visited the Union Cougars Friday night. Both teams entered the night with identical 1-1 records, but Emery was sent home with a disappointing 19-6 loss.

After a slow first half, in which Union led 6-0 at the break, Emery was finally able to find pay dirt as quarterback found Kolton Butler from 16 yards out for the Spartans’ only score of the game. Union scored once in both the third and fourth quarters to take the important game.

Emery (3-4, 1-2 3A North) now sits in a tie with Granstville (1-6, 1-2 3A North) in the 3A North Standings. The two will meet on Friday with the winner looking to nab the final playoff berth in the upcoming 3A Playoffs.
