The Lady Spartans’ win over Delta kept them in the tournament to play South Sevier on Wednesday. They struggled to get going and quickly lost the first set 25-9. They were able to bounce back and took the second set 25-19.
The third and fourth sets were extremely close and both would extend past 25 as the teams looked to go up by two. Emery pulled out the third set 27-25 to take a 2-1 lead. They Lady Spartans were unable to seal the game and lost 27-25 in the fourth set. They again had problems closing out the match and lost 15-10 in the deciding set.
The match told the story of Emery’s season. It had its chances against good teams throughout the year, but never could put a full game together. The Spartans finished 8-23 and will look to build on experience gained with their young team next year.
