August 3 was National Watermelon Day. As one of the most popular summertime snacks, watermelon is perfect for hydration as it is 92% water. The lycopene in watermelon is a carotenoid phytonutrient that also assists in bone health.

Almost 600 children 18 and younger enjoyed watermelon with their free lunch on August 3 due to the generosity of Elks BPOE 1550.
