We are always looking for ways to satisfy students who crave popular fast food menu items while still fitting within the guidelines of the USDA requirements. We hit a homerun with our chili cheese fries!

The chili is our low sodium, great tasting mix that the kids recognize from nacho grande day. It meets the legume requirement for the week. The yummy cheese sauce is also low-sodium as well as low fat with a full flavor taste that kids expect. It also meets part of the protein requirement. Our baked string potato fries are new this year. They retain their crispness because they are designed to be baked rather than fried. They make up the other vegetable component for a complete package.

All in all, we have received rave reviews and a request to serve them more often. We’ll keep working and innovating to make school lunch a healthful and enjoyable meal for Carbon students.
