The Carbon Dinos went head-to-head with the number one team in 3A, the Grantsville Cowboys, Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 3A Playoffs, losing the game 6-0.

Cody Lowe started on the mound for the Dinos, taking the loss despite giving up just one run. The Dinos mustered five hits off of perhaps 3A’s most dominant pitcher, Brady Arbon, who tossed the complete game shutout. Ty Anderson had two of Carbon’s five hits, leading the game off with a hit up the middle only to be stranded on base. Cesar Laya had a hit right after Anderson in the first inning, going 1-3. Lowe and Nate Olson had the other hits in the game for the Dinos.

Triton Abeyta and Jadon Robertson pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, collectively giving up five runs, with just two of them earned.

Grantsville scored all six runs in the last three innings, with a single run in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.

The loss sends Carbon to the one-loss bracket and will face Union on Friday at 11 a.m. at Gates Field in Kearns. Should the Dinos win that game, they would then play at 7 p.m.
