Emery Rodeo Club’s Jessie McElprang placed 10th in breakaway at the recent Sevier Rodeo, qualifying her for the state competition.

Other placings for Friday were Emery’s Korby Christiansen and partner Sammy Taylor at eighth in the team roping and Hayden Cloward at seventh in tie down roping.

Carbon team members dominated the rifle shoot; Kolton Rhodes was first, Hagen Campbell fourth, Kagen Rhodes sixth and Jordon Pierce seventh. Kagen Rhodes was also sixth in the trap shoot.

On Saturday, at the Sevier Rodeo 2 Carbon’s Morgan Jensen was fifth in the barrels. Will and Wyatt Magnuson placed 10th in team roping and in tie down roping. Emery team members Hayden Cloward took third and Bowdie Jacobsen finished eighth. Like Friday, Carbon boys again scored high in the rifle shoot; Kolton Rhodes was fourth, Campbell fifth, Pierce sixth and Kagen Rhodes, eighth. Trap shooting found Kagen Rhodes in the top ten again, finishing 10th.

This weekend, both teams will once again take to the road to compete in Cedar City for the Enterprise and Cedar rodeos. This is the last regularly scheduled fall rodeo. However, the Panguitch Rodeo Team has scheduled a Border Bash in October, which is also being recognized by the state association. This rodeo is meant to include competitors from the western United States.
