Huntington Canyon Closes Due to Large Mudslide

The Emery County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that SR 31 (Huntington Canyon) is closed due to flooding. At approximately 10 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a report of severe flooding in Huntington Canyon. According to the law enforcement agency, the reporting party advised that there was a vehicle trapped in the slide and debris was up to the doors. The caller also reported that they had rescued the occupants from the vehicle and drove them out of the canyon. Sheriff Greg Funk and Capt. Kyle Ekker responded to the canyon and assisted with the road closure.
