Junior High Rodeo Club Competes in Duchesne

The new Duchesne County Complex was the venue for the junior high rodeos over the weekend, Sept. 28 and 29.

The rodeo on Friday was hosted by the Uintah Basin Club. Many of the Emery junior rodeo team placed in the top ten and earned points toward the state competition. Shaynee Fox placed fifth in the girls’ breakaway as well as ninth in girls’ goat tying. Coy Tuttle finished fifth in barebacks and Graycee Mills took second in barrels.

In team roping, Stace Gilbert and partner Tad Williams earned third and Race Gordon and Zeek Weber took sixth. In ribbon roping, Kenlie Jensen and partner Ty Fackrell finished fourth.

On Saturday, the Utah junior rodeo club hosted the event. More members qualified, earning points for finals. Mills was second in girls’ breakaway, fourth in barrels and second in poles. Tuttle placed second in bulls, while Gordon earned third place in tie down roping and third in chute dogging. Zane Magnuson earned 10th with partner Pasilee Davis in the ribbon roping competition.

The Emery junior club will host its rodeo Oct. 6 and 7 at the Carbon County equestrian arena.
