McKenna Sorenson went 3-4 with a homerun and two doubles and three RBIs in the Carbon Lady Dinos’ 11-1 win over an overmatched Gunnison team Wednesday afternoon.
Alex Thayn chipped in two RBIs with a homerun and a single. Desi Lantz also homered in the game. Makenna Pendergrass also added two hits. Kinley Nelson threw a complete-game three hitter while giving up just one earned run.
The Lady Dinos scored seven runs over the first three innings to jump out to a big lead they never relinquished.
Carbon (15-6, 4-2 Region 12) will end the regular season with two important games against league-leading Juab (18-1, 5-0 Region 12) on Friday and Tuesday. A win in both games against the Wasps would propel the Lady Dinos into the top spot in the region standings. Two losses could see Carbon take the fourth seed entering the playoffs.
