Lady Dinos Continue to Shine on the Track

The Carbon Lady Dinos ran their way to a first place finish Friday at the Uintah Invitational by a whopping 47 points in front of second place Morgan.

The boys finished in seventh, meaning a second place overall finish for Carbon.

Shannon Baker continues to dominate both the 200 and 400-meter events, taking an overall top showing in each race in Vernal. Right behind Baker was Makenna Blanc, who finished right behind Baker in the 400 and just half a second behind, in third place, in the 200 meters.

Jessa Holyoak jumped to a first place finish in the long jump, with Baker right on her heels in second. Freshman Emma Christensen also took home top honors in the high jump, leaping to a five-foot finish.

Other top five finishes from the meet:

Girls’ sprint medley relay (Annamaria Cartwright, Paiten Thomas, Riley Marshal and Regan Hanson), second place. Boys’ sprint medley relay (Brandon August, Tyler Vasquez, Taylen Molinar and Ammon Wilson), fourth place. Girls’ 100-meter hurdles, Alexia Johnson, fifth place. Boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Carson Frame, fifth place. Girls’ 4×100 (Paiten Thomas, Emma Christensen, Madelyn Christensen and Annamaria Cartwright), second place. Boys’ 4×100 (Carter Fausett, Derek Hillam, Carson Frame and Jaylon Dennis), third place. Girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Megan Swasey, fourth place. Girls’ 3200 meters, Emma Haddock, second place. Boys’ 3200 meters, James Bryner, fourth place. Girls’ 4×400 (Madelyn Christensen, Makenna Blanc, Emma Christensen and Shannon Baker), second place. Boys’ 4×400 (Jared Spendlove, Tyson Swasey, Taylen Molinar and Carter Fausett), third place. Girls’ long jump, Shannon Baker, third place. Girls’ javelin, Marianna Molinar, second place. Girls’ high jump, Mckenna Leonard, fifth place. Boys’ long jump, Derek Hillam, fifth place.

Carbon will next participate in a state-qualifying meet at the Juab Invitational in Nephi on Friday.
