On Tuesday, Carbon traveled to Delta for a region matchup. Both teams entered the game tied 2-0 in region play and looking to take sole possession of first place.

The first half was close with the game going back and forth. The Lady Dinos were up by one after the first quarter of play, 11-10, but Delta overtook the Dinos in the second quarter to go into halftime up by one, 20-19.

“The game was very physical, which made it difficult for both teams to score,” said head coach Ted Bianco.

Carbon shined in the second half. “We were fortunate to be able to spread the floor out and penetrate to the basket for some nice baskets and assists,” Bianco said.

The Lady Dinos outscored the Lady Rabbits by seven points in each of the last two quarters to gain the victory, 44-31.

“We went to our man-to-man defense and our kids responded very well, which gave us the opportunity to control their dribble penetration without leaving open shooters on the outside. Our defense was as good as I’ve seen it,” Bianco said. “Overall, it was a very good win on their home court.”

The Lady Dinos improved to 3-0 in Region 14 and took first place with the win.

Jodi Noyes let her presence be known down-low and lit up the stat sheet. Noyes recorded a double-double and led the Dinos with 12 points, 17 rebounds and eight blocks. Jordan Bianco had a team-high five steals on the night and added 10 points of her own. Carbon had 12 steals in the game but was sloppy with the ball themselves, committing 15 turnovers.

Carbon (8-2, 3-0 Region 14) has a tough task ahead as they play an undefeated 4A Uintah team (5-0, 0-0 Region 10) on the road on Thursday.
