Carbon hosted a Region 14 matchup in Price on Tuesday against the Union Cougars.

The Lady Dinos broke out with a 9-2 run to start the game and gained an early lead against the visiting Cougars. Down by nine after one quarter of play, Union showed some fight trading blows with Carbon in the second quarter as foul trouble became a problem for both teams. Three Dinos, Abbie Saccomanno, Cora Lamborn and Jodi Noyes, would all eventually foul out.

Coming out of halftime up 25-15, the Dinos were able to keep the Cougars at bay to remain undefeated in region. Jordan Bianco took over on offense and was repeatedly fouled as she drove to the basket, putting her on the charity strike. She made 14 of her 16 free throw attempts and went 4-7 on three pointers to score a game-high 26 points. Makenna Blanc put up 13 points to help the Dinos get the 58-46 victory.

“I’m very proud of our girls. That’s a good Union team with five seniors that start,” said coach Ted Bianco after the game.

Carbon (12-2, 5-0 Region 14) will get a well-deserved week off before they travel to ALA (2-7, 1-3 Region 14) on Jan. 15.
