Back-to-back losses for the Lady Pirates have the team looking to rebound following the holiday break. The losses, against Tabiona and Altamount, follow two wins for the Green River squad earlier this month against Merit Academy and Grand.

The team took a loss against Tabiona on Saturday, Dec. 16, 50-39. The first half saw a close contest between the teams, going into the break with Green River trailing by a lone point, 27-26.

Tabiona came back to outscore the visiting Lady Pirates in the third and fourth, taking the win.

Maribel Escalante was impressive for Green River, notching 20 points for her team, including four buckets from downtown. Five other Pirates chipped in points in the game.

Green River was handed another loss on Tuesday, Dec. 19 as the team traveled to take on Altamont. The Lady Pirates were narrowly edged out, taking home a 48-43 loss.

Escalante once again led her team, draining 18 points, including four treys. Talynn Lovato added 12 for her team.

Green River will travel for back-to-back games after the holiday break. The team will first take on Wayne on Thursday, Jan. 4 before making the trip to Price on Friday, Jan. 5 for a matchup against Pinnacle.
