Megan Jensen scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Emery Lady Spartans to a 75-49 win over the San Juan Broncos Thursday night. Emery wraps up the regular season as Co-Region 15 Champions. Richfield beat South Sevier on Friday, matching the Lady Spartans’ region record.

A coin flip to determine playoff seeding took place after the two games. Richfield won the flip, meaning Emery will settle in as a 2-seed entering the 3A Playoffs, which begin next Friday.

Emery sent its lone senior, Lainee Jensen, off in grand fashion. After a sluggish start, Emery outscored San Juan 36-19 in the second and third quarters to coast to the win. The victory marked Emery’s 11th in a row.

After Megan Jensen’s 30, Kinlee Toomer poured in 20 more. The duo shot a combined 21-28 from the floor. Megan Jensen added eight boards and Toomer finished with five assists. Lainee Jensen was the other Lady Spartan in double figures with 13.

Megan Jensen scored the first 12 points of the game, finishing the quarter with 14. San Juan kept it close for most of the first half before Emery pulled away in the third quarter.

Emery finished the regular season winners of 21 games with only one loss. That loss came against Richfield back on Jan. 2, a 49-39 tilt to begin Region 15 action. Emery then ripped off 11 straight to end the season.

As a 2-seed, the Lady Spartans will take on Region 14’s 5-seed, American Leadership Academy, on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Wasatch High School in a 3A play-in game. The winner will punch its ticket to St. George the following week.
