The #5 Lady Spartans kicked off region play at home against #2 Richfield. It was a huge opportunity for Emery to not only start 1-0 in region but also to knock off the second best team in the conference at home.

It was neck and neck in the first half but Richfield was able to grab a slight lead going into halftime up 20-18. The third quarter hurt the Lady Spartans as they went cold. They only managed three points to Richfield’s 11, extending their deficit to 10. It was too much for the Spartans to overcome and they fell 44-37.

Kiri Cook led the Spartans with nine points. The Lady Spartans shot 30 percent from the field and only had 11 total rebounds.

Emery (7-5, 0-1) will need get back to playing Spartan basketball quickly as it hosts #4 Carbon (9-5, 0-1) on Thursday. Tune in to ETV Channel 10 or etvnews.com/livesports as both teams look to grab their first region win in the rivalry game.
