Ambree Bennett singled to lead off the game between Emery and South Sevier in the 3A state softball tournament.

AdriAnne Childs delivered a two-out RBI double to go up 1-0. With the same score in the top of the fourth, Cambrie Jensen hit a triple. She then scored on Autumn Stilson’s single up the middle. Later in the inning, Bennett hit home one more to make it 3-0.

The Lady Spartans extended their lead in the sixth after Bailey Huggard hit a double with a runner on and Stilson came through with another RBI single, scoring two. Jensen blooped a single to center in the seventh, bringing her RBI total to three and make it 6-0 in favor of Emery.

Braileigh Clark pitched a complete game and got the win. She surrendered two late runs and only gave up four hits in the match. Bennett and Jensen each had an RBI and went 3-4. Stilson went 2-3 and led the team with three RBIs. Emery knocked the Lady Rams out of the tournament by a score of 6-2.

Emery did not fair as well against Union. The Lady Spartans gave up three hits with two outs in the first inning. The last was a home run over the center field fence to put the Lady Cougars up 3-0. Childs hit a sac fly to score Bennett in the bottom of the first, but that was the only run Emery would manage.

Ally Rook pitched a good game for the Lady Cougars, striking out six through six innings. Emery only managed three hits off Rook in the contest, two of which came in the first inning. Union shutdown the Lady Spartans’ offense and went on to win 11-1.
