Lady Spartans’ Losing Streak Hits Four

The Manti Templars scored nine runs in the second inning and five more spanning the third and fourth to take the home victory over the visiting Emery Spartans Friday afternoon, 14-4, in five innings.

Emery led 4-0 entering the second inning only to see its lead quickly disappear.

Addy Healy bashed a second inning home run that scored courtesy runner Madisyn Alton to make the game 4-0 in Emery’s favor. The Lady Spartans also scored two runs in the first inning on a steal of home by Carlie Robinson and a Bailey Huggard run scored on an error.

Taleigh Price took the loss in the circle, allowing seven earned runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched. Shayleigh Hreinson and Kaejha Johnson each made appearances in the game as well.

Emery (6-9, 2-5 Region 15) will play three games this week, beginning Tuesday at home against North Sanpete. The Lady Spartans will then hook up with Carbon under the lights at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Carbon County Fairgrounds before traveling to Mt. Pleasant on Friday for another matchup against the Hawks.
