Just six days before the first round of the 2A state tourney, Emery’s Lady Spartans hosted the Gunnison Bulldogs and wound their way through a nail-biting match, eventually taking the win.
After a high-energy fist half that led to a 2-2 tie overall, the Lady Spartans turned up the heat in the second, netting the ball thrice more. Defense also did their part, keeping Gunnison from putting up any points. The team’s work took the final score to 5-2.
With the victory, Emery has taken their standing to third overall with an even 4-4 record in region 15 play. The Lady Spartans will now prepare for the first round of the 2A state tourney, traveling to Sandy to face off against The Waterford School on Wednesday.
