Letter to the Editor: Childish Provocations

This picture of the Balanced Rock above Helper, Utah was taken on November 21, 2018. For 100 years the people of Helper have been flying an American flag from the top of that high, rocky pinnacle. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am terribly offended by this. I’m a Veteran, and proud of my country and proud of our flag. In my world, no flag flies above the American Flag. So, in a true spirit of tolerance and friendship I offer some friendly advice to whoever put that bold sodomite banner above the Stars and Stripes. In recent years, LGBTQ  people have made some amazing inroads into mainstream society. Obstacles in your path have been removed by the courts and many doors have been opened to you. You have achieved, I believe, all of your original hopes, dreams and demands. You should be happy about that. Please don’t screw it up now with childish provocations.
