Letter to the Editor: Commission Secretary Lawsuit Costing Taxpayers

Letter-to-the-Editor.jpg

I am a concerned citizen and am writing in response to the Emery County Progress’ article, dated May 16, 2017, regarding the former Administrative Assistant filing a lawsuit against Emery County. The commissioners voted to each have their own part time, private, confidential secretaries verses one 27 yr, full time secretary. The commissioners have never each had their own secretaries and it’s been almost one year. Commissioner Sitterud has been in office for nearly five months and he doesn’t have a secretary yet.

I’m concerned about a very important issue that was missing from the article. How much money, including legal fees, have the county commissioners caused the taxpayers to spend needlessly, in order to provide each of them their own private, secretary? As this figure approaches nearly $100,000, the citizens need to know how much of our tax dollars have been spent regarding this matter.
